Tah-Dah … it was way back in 2009 that I first met this charming young lady. She came to me asking if I would mentor her in watercolor for her 8th Grade Project. Together we met for weeks, months. I grew to admire her and her family deeply. I was so touched and impressed when she did her school presentation – her work looked so strong up there on stage. And – oh my – when she presented me with roses!!! Over the years I’ve been invited to her birthdays, her family’s Daffodil Days and finally, her High School Graduation!! Mature, talented, brilliant, humble and with a heart as beautiful as her presence, she headed off to university last year.
We’ve kept in touch on FaceBook and when she showed an interest in my Alpine Retreat we found it conflicted with her schooling. But when she asked about this Wallowa Retreat – I was quick to offer her this ongoing “Emerging Artist” Scholarship available on all my retreats. And now she is on board, coming along to inspire us and drink in what we can offer. I’m so excited … here is a brief bio from dear Kiri herself:
“Kiri Bolles has been making art for as long as she can remember. Since she started Waldorf school in third grade she has never had a year in which she was not taking an art class. President of the National Art Honor Society in high school, with art having been shown in multiple galleries and won many awards, she is now at university studying to become a high school art teacher. She is constantly working to improve her skill in any way she can, and hopes to one day be able to make a positive impact on people’s lives through art.”
I couldn’t be more pleased!!!
